Proverb – Sức Khỏe Là Vàng

Literal Translation: Health is gold.
English Equivalent: The greatest wealth is health. – Virgil

In East and Southeast Asian culture, as one year ends and another begins, it is important to wish for good health and prosperity. This proverb points out that health is wealth. Many people disregard their health in pursuit of material assets, but ironically, only with good health can we enjoy everything we have worked so hard to acquire. Not too long ago, the media reported one of the top five most common regrets a counselling nurse heard from dying patients was “I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.” All the men she cared for shared this regret, explaining that they had missed their children’s growth and their partner’s company because of work.    First and foremost, take care of your health.  With good health, you can continue to enjoy the most precious things in your life, whatever they may be. We at Culture wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2017.
