Porter to Resume Flights to Canadian Destinations on September 8

A week after securing a federal loan of over $270 million, Porter Airlines has announced its schedule for a return to the skies.

The airline, based out of Billy Bishop Toronto island airport, will resume a phased-in schedule of flights to Canadian destinations on September 8.

Service to U.S. destinations will follow on September 17.

In a recent Twitter tweet by Porter Airlines, they announced the return saying: “After nearly 18 months, #PorterIsBack! We’re returning to the skies on Sept. 8, and we can’t wait to welcome you back! Full details and flight schedules at: http://eporter.flyporter.com/relaunch/index.html

“This is the moment our team members have been waiting for: we get to see you, and the communities we serve. We look forward to once again delivering Porter’s unique style of service,” Porter said in a release Monday.

The airline said it make all fares purchased by July 20, for trips through to December 15, fully refundable with no fees.

Porter suspended operations on March 21, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of its agreement with the federal government for loans of up to $270.5 million, Porter said $20.5 million will be used to refund passengers whose flights were cancelled during the pandemic.
