COVID-19 cases outside of China surpassed cases inside this country

The United Kingdom confirmed 1,551 cases and 37 total deaths. Meanwhile, France confirmed 127 deaths and 5,397 cases. Germany now has 6,672 cases.

From March 9, Italy is under lockdown as the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases continues to grow. Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte signed a decree early Sunday that will put about 16 million people in the prosperous northern part of the country under lockdown due to the novel coronavirus. This sweeping move to restrict the movements of a quarter of its people to control the COVID-19 pandemic is a peremptory response implemented outside of mainland China. The affected regions include Lombardy and at least 14 provinces in neighbouring regions, including the cities of Venice, Modena, Parma, and Rimini. The extraordinary measures will be in place until April 3. Some of them include the closing of schools and classes, theatres and cinemas, bars, nightclubs, sports events, as well as religious ceremonies, including funerals. According to, as of March 12, In Italy, the spreading of COVID-19 mainly hit people that are over 50 years old, accounting for about 76%.

Since the first confirmed case in Italy at the end of January until now, the number of confirmed cases surpasses 20 thousand. North of Italy is where it had affected the most, including Lombardy with the highest number of confirmed cases (13,200 cases).


According to 32 new cases have been confirmed, which bring Ontario’s confirmed cases to 177 in total.

Some other places include Quebec (39 cases), Alberta (56 cases), British Columbia (73 cases) and some other provinces.

The total confirmed cases in Canada is 373.

United States

As of March 16, total confirmed cases in this country is more than 3,800 case, 16 deaths and 12 recoveries. Three places that have a high death count due to the novel virus include Washington, California and New York.


According to the COVID-19 tracking map of Johns Hopkins University, the total number of cases worldwide is now more than 174,000 and 6,700 total deaths. More than 100,000 cases have been confirmed in Asia.

Other than China, Iran and South Korea are the two countries that have a high number of COVID-19 cases, which are about 15,000 cases and more than 8,000 cases respectively.

As of today, the number of COVID-19 cases outside China surpassed the number inside it. Total cases in China are about 88,000 while other countries are about 81,000 in total. The total recoveries are now more than 77,000 cases.
