Hotspots to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth

Take your pick of decadent desserts at Mississauga’s Square One.

Known as the largest shopping centre in Ontario at 2.2 million square feet, Square One attracts tourists from around the world. Not only are top fashion brands available, but also wonderful food. Last April, the mall introduced The Food District, a fancy hall where you can enjoy the finest dishes. Following are three sweet treat options to keep in mind for your next trip to Mississauga.

Fuwa Fuwa (Closest to entrance 7, near Scotiabank)

Fuwa Fuwa opened its third store here, after establishing the first and second locations in Toronto. It serves Japanese desserts and drinks, such as matcha roll cakes, and berries detox water. But, Fuwa Fuwa is best known for its special, handcrafted soufflé pancakes made from free-range eggs. The pancakes are cooked upon order, ensuring fresh, soft, fluffy cakes. (Fuwa Fuwa means “fluffy fluffy” in Japanese). There are nine toppings to choose from. The top two flavors are tiramisu and matcha.

The Box Donut (inside The Food District, near Indigo)

If you love donuts, you’ll love this place. Unlike the usual round version, The Box Donut, just like its name, serves square donuts that are handcrafted. Some extraordinary flavors include pistachio raspberry, rosewater and strawberry, and granola with maple glaze.

The Macaron Boutique (inside The Food District, near Indigo)

If you are craving the sweetness of a French dessert, try some macarons. You can also please loved ones with a cute, sophisticated, gift box full of the delicately colored disks. They come in more than 30 flavors, including mint and lavender, in a variety of pretty hues (no Photoshop needed!). The Macaron Boutique easily lives up to its statement of being able to deliver treats that are “exquisitely handcrafted with the finest ingredients.”
