Capturing the Soul of a City

Three inspirations for traveling fashion gurus.

As a marketing specialist who works full time, modelling is one of the only opportunities I have to push the boundaries of fashion outside of the office. My passion for modelling has driven me to compete in and win the title of Miss Asia Canada 2018, as well as grow a following of 36,6k on Instagram as a social media influencer. The different settings and themes of each photoshoot allow me to explore new styles and trends. It doesn’t matter if I am going for urban streetwear or causal athletic wear, I always strive to exude confidence, sexiness and my adventurous personality through my outfits.

BEIJING – RITAN PARK

Shot in an imperial garden in Beijing that is full of culture and history, I aimed to showcase urban contemporary street style juxtaposed with tradition and nature. The ripped jeans, off the shoulder styling and retro-inspired sneakers are rebellious and contrast with the imagery of ancient palaces and gardens. The dull, forest green, suede, oversized shirt brings balance to the outfit and connects the subject (me) to the earthy tones in the background.

TORONTO – SHOPS AT DON MILLS

Shot in the modern, urban setting of Toronto, I created this outfit to illustrate sophistication and class. The white, wide-legged pant pants from Zara are eye catching and bold, but minimalistic and clean at the same time. The cropped, wool top gives the look a hint of sexiness, while still complimenting the colour palette of the shot. The black blazer with turquoise lining adds complexity.

NEW YORK CITY – MANHATTAN

The bustling city of New York is known for its street style, with the latest trends and statement pieces that make the wearer stand out. Shot in Manhattan, the long grey coat from Oak and Fort features a relaxed fit while maintaining the chic and on-the-move vibe of the Big Apple. I love layering this coat over wide legged pants and a white shirt, then adding a pop of colour with a fluorescent yellow purse.
