Air Canada Receives Skytrax World Airline Awards

Canada’s largest airline is recognized for its staff and named the best airline in North America for the third year in a row.

At the International Paris Air Show in June, Air Canada was honored for successfully satisfying its customers at the Skytrax World Airline Awards. The airline was awarded the Best Business Class Lounge Dining, Best Business Class in North America, Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness in North America and Best Airline Staff in Canada.

Based on the passenger satisfaction surveys of an estimated 21 million worldwide travelers, the carrier was named Best Airline in North America.

“Air Canada’s achievement of being named the Best Airline in North America for the eighth time is a remarkable achievement. It is a fitting tribute for all Air Canada staff that they continue to receive such a vote of confidence from customers,” said Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, in a news release issued by Air Canada. “We are also delighted to see Air Canada Signature Suite in Toronto Pearson Airport recognized as the World’s Best Business Class Dining Experience.”

The World Airline Awards were introduced in 1999 to measure customer satisfaction rated by a survey on a global scale. The cost to conduct the surveys and hold an award event is paid by Skytrax. No entry or registration fee is charged to the airlines. Neither do they pay for the usage of award logos and results. More than 100 countries participate, and more than 300 airlines are featured. Skytrax conducts the survey online from September 2018 to May 2019 and sends invitations to previous year respondents to participate.

Canada’s largest airline, by fleet size and passengers carried, was founded in 1937, and provides transportation to 207 destinations around the globe. The airline is a founding member of the Star Alliance which serves 1,317 airports in 193 countries. Apart from being named Best Airline in North America, Air Canada is also the only international carrier to receive a Four-Star ranking in North America based on research by Skytrax.
